Jen started taking pictures when she was in elementary school following in the footsteps of her grandfather who was a photographer in the US Marines. When she was a sophmore in high school she had the opportunity to take her first photography class. After learning basic camera operation and introductory black and white techniques she bought her first SLR camera. Armed with her Canon EOS Rebel she began photographing flowers, lighthouses, and whatever else she could find. While attending Crown College she took a photography class in black and white development.
She loved working in the darkroom and getting the chance to see her own pictures as they developed. While in college she brought her Canon EOS Elan IIe and a Sigma Macro lens. The macro lens offered a whole new world of photography to her. She enjoyed looking at the world from a whole new perspective and sought new ways to photograph everyday objects and scenery.
In February of 2007 Jen received her graduation certificate in professional photography from the New York Institute of Photography. She has switched mostly to digital photography and is currently using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel and Canon EOS 20D. She is working with studio lighting techniques and had the opportunity to do a photo shoot for local Maine band New Mercy Morning for their recent album. She has been selling her work at Craft shows since 1996 and is now opening a whole new avenue for marketing her work over the internet. She plans to continue in nature photography and taking portraits and weddings, but also plans to explore other avenues of freelance photography.
